La Mesa Drive Walking Tour

May 03, 2011 by

Los Angeles is richly diverse in our people, history, culture, and ethnicity. Each day, I walk around befuddled that people are always wondering what to do or where to go–from visiting the world famous Hollywood of new and old; to the colorful and wonderfully distinct neighborhood of Boyle Heights; or the hills high above Los Angeles and Beverly Hills on Mulholland Drive.

Each and every place here has a story and uniqueness to tell, and by documenting them we get to illustrate their histories, the people and entities that helped to make them what they were and are now, and how the great melting pot of Los Angeles has literally and figuratively hundreds, if not thousands, of untold tales, autobiographies, lore, and folktales that makes us truly one of the great city’s of the world.

One such Place is a small Street in Santa Monica named La Mesa Drive:

Hidden behind these glorious Moreton Fig trees is a small street filled with inherent charm and splendor; respite with its unique beauty, and strident and playful architecture. It’s a slice right out of our city’s cultural history, and it also happens to be a phenomenally interesting neighborhood.

Indeed, the La Mesa Drive neighborhood is emblematic of how Los Angeles came to be and looks today.

Its history is its future, yet not born, but will be part of its past.
