The Festival of Lights Parade is this Weekend in Palm Springs
It’s been pretty cold in the LA area this past week, getting down into the 40s pretty regularly.
But, while LA is only reaching into the 60s during the day, Palm Springs is in the upper 70s. Therefore, this might be the perfect time to go to the desert to get away for a relaxing weekend.
Plus, on December 4th, Palm Springs will be hosting its 19th Annual Festival of Lights Parade.
With its quiet start over 19 years ago, the Parade has grown each year and has played host to many marching bands and performing groups, as well as the Budweiser Clydesdales, Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Snoopy and the Gang – and of course Santa and Mrs. Claus!
Here’s Mayor Steve Pougnet take on the Parade:
Over the years, the Festival of Lights Parade has become a beloved holiday tradition in downtown – bringing thousands of Coachella Valley residents and their families as well as tourists from all over the world to come see the twinkling floats while celebrating the joy of the holiday season in Palm Springs,”. “There’s no other event in the Coachella Valley quite like it!
So, within only a two hour drive from Los Angeles, you can enter an entirely different world, and relax by the pool on Friday night, do a little hiking at nearby Joshua Tree National Park, relax for a late dinner, and then head to Palm Canyon Drive for the Parade.
After the Parade, there is a host of places where you can enjoy a relaxing dinner.
If you bring the kids, Frances Stevens Park is hosting a pre-parade family-friendly event with face painting, Santa Claus, Christmas carols, and ice skating. All the action starts at 11:00am.
If you’re planning to attend, definitely book a stay at the desert’s newest luxury Boutique Inn–POSH Palm Springs.
