Yes, night skies in Ohio are very black. Except when there’s snow on the ground and its white reflects up into all eternity. Gorgeous. Or when we get a full moon on a clear night. And the stars stud the heavens. Peaceful? Yes indeedy… It’s home, comfort, and beauty to me.

Think I’ll go visit the WITS site — sounds wonderful.

@ Diane C. Thank you. One thing I’ve noticed about the sky is that it’s so dark in the country. Because I’ve lived most of my life in a major city, I’ve gotten used to light black skies seen here. However, when I visit my sister, who lives in the countryside of Ohio, the sky turns very black. All the stars are visible. It’s a different sky, but one no less calming.

@ Robin I love the poems on your site, and the idea that they’re written by school children is even better. Thank you for publishing them.
