The door in the first photo is a sculpture called “Dance Door” by well-known Venice Beach based sculptor Robert Graham (1938-2008). Robert Graham was actress Angelica Huston’s husband and he has many prominent sculptures all over L.A. including the doors to Our Lady of the Angels cathedral. @Paisley (Paisley Thoughts), The reaction I’ve gotten from the map idea has been great. I’m sure I’ll be using this again, especially since I also love walking.

The Disney building is extremely unusual. The different shapes and surfaces are quite impossible to capture in film, at least for me.

I’m so happy you found it “glamorous.”

The first photo framed in the doorway is spectacular - there's a real strength about it. The Disney building looks so unusual and the cityscape looks as glamorous as I imagine LA to be. @bikinginla, I couldn’t agree more. I love biking and walking in LA. I plan on doing more of these walking tours. In fact, yesterday, I hiked up by the Hollywood sign. Talk about great views.

The funny thing was that I did feel like a tourist in my own city………..:)

I have to agree, that is a very cool shot at the beginning. My wife and I love walking through Downtown, feeling like tourists in our own city. L.A. is very strange in that there are places of rare beauty throughout the city, but because it is so spread out, and most people see it only through the windows of their cars, it's much harder to notice and appreciate. Traveling by foot or bike brings us closer to the city, and allows us to experience Los Angeles in ways most people never will. @Tess The Bold Life, I’m just getting to know the city myself, but lovin’ every minute. I do admit that traffic can be an issue, depending on where you’re going. However, walking is great, and as I start to develop these walking tours more, I hope more people take to the sidewalks. Even in LA, it’s a great way to go. Add a little public transporation, and you’re all set…………..:)

@Lance, Maybe it's because I'm tall, but whatever the reason, I love looking up, especially when I'm photographing buildings. Often times the front of a building has been done and redone. However, the sides, looking up are something brand new.
