White Christmas in Southern California
As exemplified in the picture above, in Southern California, “White Christmas” has a much different meaning–and feeling–than in other parts of the country. Christmas is synonymous with cold– winter, snowflakes, wearing layers of clothes, and December almost always means low temperatures.
With Thanksgiving already behind us, next up is Christmas. And with that–shopping. It’s discussed in the media; the malls and online buying results in millions of purchases, and decorations adorn our streets and neighborhoods. As well, Christmas movies are being shown on the small and big screens. In other words, the Holiday Season is currently in full swing.
Last Christmas was spent in San Diego, where I was able to enjoy the nice weather, beaches, and ambiance of La Jolla Cove and Shores.
Here’s wishing all the cold weather climate dwellers a warm fireplace with a charming companion during these winter months.
And for me, no matter where I live, this song will always have a special meaning:
When Travelin’ Local in Southern California, we do it the SoCal way–we hang tight and are always cool; but if you live where it’s cold and blistery, always remember and keep in mind that summer isn’t too far away.

You aren’t going to tempt all of us with more photos of La Jolla are you? Sure would love to see some!
I’m presently counting down the weeks (8 to go) before being able to enjoy the beautiful Southern Californai landscape again.

@Kevin, I’m not sure about La Jolla, but I think I’ll be in San Diego this upcoming weekend. I’m not sure where I’m going in that area yet. Any other suggestions besides La Jolla?

Santa Barbara has always been one of my favourite areas although I’m a little biased here as I went to Brooks Institute and enjoyed the area immensely. One area I used to visit regularly when I lived there and just loved was Morro Bay. Unfortunately the weather likely isn’t as nice as the San Diego area but it sure is beautiful.
Have you thought about heading into Arizona at all? Very impressive country out there and quite different from the coast.

@Kevin, I haven’t been to Santa Barbara yet, but it’s on my long list of places to go.
I spent a little time in Arizona, and I agree it’s very different from the coast. Each part of the West has its own uniqueness. Hell, I’d love to just travel, write, and take pictures.
